Day 1: Arrive Delhi

Arrive Delhi. You will be met by PUREQUEST ADVENTURES-INDIA representative at the airport and transferred to your hotel.

Enjoy an orientation tour of the city in the afternoon. New Delhi is built in a typically British colonial style with tree-lined avenues and colonial bungalows. See India Gate, the 42 m high War Memorial Arch. Drive past the Parliament House, the Secretariat buildings and the Vice Regal Palace, now the official residence of the President of India. Visit of Qutab Minar, it was intended to be the most glorious tower of victory in the world and was to be the prototype of all minars in India.

Day 2: Delhi - Agra (Train 12002 ‘0615/0812’) Agra - Delhi (Train)

Leaving Delhi behind depart for Agra early in the morning by one of the fastest trains of India.

Agra in terms of ambiance is still associated with its Mughal period. The Mughals besides being great rulers were also great builders and they preserved their best architectural wonders for Agra & its neighbourhood. It has many wonderful monuments and the Taj Mahal, the greatest of them all, is a masterpiece of Mughal architecture at its best.

The tour will include a visit to Agra Fort - the seat and the stronghold of the Mughal Empire under successive generations. This was the seat of Mughal rule and administration and the present structure owes its origins to Akbar who erected the walls and gates and the first buildings on the eastern banks of Yamuna River.

Late afternoon visit The Taj Mahal (closed on Fridays). Midway Tonga's "horse carriages" would be waiting for you and will drop you at the gates of the Taj Mahal. Taking 22 years and 20,000 men to build, the white marble was quarried 200 miles away and was transported to the site by a fleet of 1000 elephants. Built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as an expression of his love for his wife Mumtaz Mahal, in mid-17th century, the Taj Mahal is truly one of the wonders of the world.

Late evening- Catch the same train to reach Delhi

Day 3: Delhi - Guwahati (Flight)

Transfer to Airport

Arrive Guwahati Airport. On arrival you will be met by 'AN INDIAN ESCAPE' representative and transferred to hotel. Guwahati is the gateway to the entire Northeast region of India and also a major commercial hub. Afternoon sightseeing of Guwahati, visit the famous Kamakhya Temple and the State Museum. Welcome dinner at a specialty restaurant.

Day 4: Guwahati - Dirang (315 Km / 7 hours)

After breakfast depart for Dirang.

This area offers exploration into the Sangti Valley and the epic Mandala and Sela passes explore one of the highest drivable Himalayan roads up to Sela Pass. Conifers, moss-covered Rhododendrons and steep scarp slopes greet us as we ascend. Here we seek out the hardy Snow Partridge; whirling flocks of Snow Pigeons. Also look out for Monal pheasant, blood pheasant, Satyr and Temminck’s tragopans, black-necked crane, long-billed plover, ward's trogon.

Day 5: Dirang

Enjoy full day birding today explore the foothills of the eastern Himalayas. Here, in the shadow of massive peaks looking for, alpine accentor, eye browed thrush, white-throated redstart, slender-billed scimitar-babbler, brown-throated tit-babbler/fulvetta, Coal tit, Rufous-fronted tit, Eurasian tree creeper, fire-tailed sunbird etc.

Day 6: Dirang - Eaglenest (160 Km / 5 hours)

This moring proceed to Eaglenest or Eagle's Nest Wildlife Sanctuary Eaglenest or Eagle's Nest Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area of India in the Himalayan foothills of West Kameng District, Arunachal Pradesh. This impressive conservation area allows access to a wide range of elevations, ranging from 1650 ft. (500 m) foothills to 10500 ft. (3200 m) high peaks. A decent road network and a handy range of conveniently located base camps make Eaglenest almost unbeatable as a single birding destination in the Himalayas.

Lookout for spectacular number of species which include Scarlet and Golden-naped Finches, furtive Slaty-bellied and Gray-bellied Tesias and a host of parrotbills

7: Eaglenest

Full day birding. The most sought after Bird will be the smart Bugun Liocichla, the bird that brought Eagle nest to world attention after it was described in 2006.

Day 8: Eaglenest - Bhalukpong (137 Km / 4 hours)

Morning jungle activity. Post lunch depart for Bhalukpong.

On arrival, check-in at the Eco Camp.

Bhalukpong is a small town located along the southern reaches of Eastern Himalaya. Fish angling and river rafting are the principal tourist activities in Bhalukpong.

Day 9: Bhalukpong - Kaziranga (150 Km / 4 hours)

After Breakfast depart for Kaziranga. After arrival check-in at the resort.

Afternoon enjoy Jeep Safari to the Eastern (Agaratuli) Range, situated towards the eastern part of the park. The area is excellent for birding includes nesting of the globally threatened Pallas's Fish Eagle and a colony of Spot-billed Pelicans. The grasslands of Kaziranga team with great birds, but the most sought after include the Bengal Florican with its extravagant dancing display, the strange Swamp Francolin, Finn's Weaver. Carcasses draw in the critically endangered White-rumped, Red-headed, and Slender-billed Vultures etc. A World Heritage Site, the park hosts two-thirds of the world's Great One-horned rhino.

Large herds of Asian Elephants roam here alongside Asian Water Buffalo, the endangered Swamp Deer, and a gamut of other ungulates including Barking, Sambar, and Hog Deer.

Day 10: Kaziranga

Get up very early in the morning for an exciting elephant ride. Enjoy the ride through the Park for 1 hr. to appreciate the beauty of famous one horned rhino, wild elephant, etc up close. After breakfast, Jeep safari inside the Central range of the park. This drive is an ideal introduction to the park and its ecology as the route passes through the entire spectrum of habitat types prevalent in the area. There is a possibility of sighting elephants as well as the other Mega herbivores, Swamp deer etc. Afternoon go on a Jeep safari inside Western range of the National Park to enjoy the wildlife of the park. The route traverses the southwest portion of the park. This range has maximum short grass areas and is the optimum habitat for Rhino and Water Buffalo.

Kaziranga has been identified by Birdlife International as an Important Bird Area, Keep a lookout for a variety of migratory birds, water birds, predators, scavengers, and game birds. Birds such as the Lesser White-fronted Goose, Ferruginous Duck, Baer's Pochard duck and Lesser Adjutant, Greater Adjutant,etc.

Day 11: Kaziranga - Guwahati (250 Km / 5 hours drive) - Mumbai / Delhi (by flight)

In the morning after breakfast drive to Guwahati airport to connect a flight to Mumbai or Delhi. On arrival you will be met and assisted by our REP for your homebound journey or an extension program.

On arrival in Mumbai/ Delhi, you will be assisted in Mumbai/ Delhi to connect your onward flight or to take an extension program.
