Gir National Park is the only place in the world after Africa where one can see the lion in the wild. These subspecies of lion called Asiatic lion and Gir is the last remaining habitat for these big cats. Gir is also one of the oldest sanctuaries of India. The park has undulating, low and hilly terrain and is surrounded by agricultural flat land. Gir is the best conservation success story of species revival in any part of India. Apart from lion the park is also known for its leopard population and considered as one of the best place to see this feline. About 300 species of birds are found here which include threatened species like dDalmatian pelican, greater spotted eagle, Indian skimmer and long billed vulture. The wetlands in Gir support several waterfowl species.

The Lodge

The Lion Safari Camp at Gir National Park is a luxury wild life camp is owned and managed by Camps of India. It is located in a private mango orchard overlooking the Hiran River. The location presently has around 900 mango trees with only 2% of the entire land area being built so that the natural setting is maintained. This eco-friendly camp has 21 air conditioned luxury tents each with large well-furnished bedrooms and an attached en-suite bathrooms. All the tents are beautifully furnished with natural materials and open out to an extended deck - An ideal place to sit and relax amongst nature.
